General Questions

What are these boards?
The boards were originally a continuation of the GameFAQs Hell source (A spinoff of the GameFAQs boards), which was coded by Neo. By the time Twisted Legacy came about in 2002, the source had gone through quite a few changes. The original Twisted Legacy source was based off of Outboards version 1 (Possibly version 2, I can't remember anymore). From there, it underwent many changes, under many different coders, until the new source debuted on October 20, 2006.

How can I make boards like these?
Various spinoff sources are now available at many different sites, from there, you can set up and run the boards as you so desire, but a good knowledge of PHP and MySQL is recommended.

Board Questions

I forgot my password!
You can recover your password by going here and entering in the email you provided when you joined, as well as your username. Remember to keep your private email up to date.

How do I post messages or create topics?
Just click the 'Post New Message' or 'Post New Topic' link in the topmost bar. Of course, you have to be logged in first before posting a message.

Why was my message/topic deleted?
It was marked for deletion by one of our members, and the moderators felt that it needed to be deleted. Check the TOS to see what you did. Remember; Complaining about a moderation is pointless. It means nothing. Especially if you didn't even lose virtue for it, which more often than not, you probably won't anyway.

How many secret boards are there?
Seven.

How do I go about searching for secret boards?
Notice the link in your address bar?
Example: http://tl.warpedbelief.com/topics.php?board=#
Replace # with any number. Good luck!

Can I be a Moderator?
No. Please don't ask. There are currently more than enough moderators to handle the activity. If more are required, you will know about it.

How can I change my signature and other settings?
Click on your username in the top left corner of the screen. Scroll down a bit and from there, you will notice you have different options for different things..

Display Settings: From here, you can change various settings on how the boards are displayed. For example, items per page and time zone.
Manage Profile: This is where you go to keep your private email up to date, as well as changing your signature and updating other options.
Change Theme: How the site is displayed. There are three options: Premade, the ability to choose from finished themes..
Other Users, which allows you to import a theme that another user has already completed and..
Custom Themes, which allows you to edit everything on the theme from colors, fonts and banners to how everything is placed.

What special tags can I use?
Bold, italics and strikethrough

How do I use these tags? (Level 1+)
Bold: <b> marks the beginning of bold text, </b> ends it. (<strong></strong> can also be used.)
Italic: <i> marks the beginning of italic text, </i> ends it. (<em></em> can also be used.)
Strikethrough: <s> marks the beginning of strikethrough text, </s> ends it. (<del></del> can also be used.)
Please note that if these features are abused in any way, they will be removed. More tags will be added later as the source is completed.

Vividity Questions

What is vividity?
It works like the GameFAQs karma system. You earn one point per day for logging in. If you do not log in, you simply do not gain a point for the day. After logging in for a certain number of days, you are able to level up. (It has taken the place of virtue, as virtue now determines your group level.) A neat feature has been added on the user information page that indicates how many more points you need until the next level.

Virtue Questions

What is virtue?
For the past few years, virtue was used to determine your level on the boards, however, with vividity replacing that feature, we now use virtue for other purposes, known as a group level. There will also be a virtue shop coming soon, which will allow you to "purchase" different things, for use on the boards. The main purpose of virtue is that it is user controlled. Users are able to suggest others that they find funny or someone that has helped them out in some way.

How do I earn virtue?
To earn virtue, you must first be suggested for it. To suggest people, click the "Mark/Suggest" links. From there, you can choose to either mark a message for moderation or suggest it for virtue. You can be suggested for a number of reasons, but the main few are for funny, intelligent, or informative posts. Usually you'll get one point per suggested post, but if we're feeling generous, we'll sometimes give more.

Can you earn more than one virtue a day?
Yes, you can.

How do I know if I received virtue?
You will see a Virtue Gained if you received Virtue for your post and Virtue Removed if you had some taken away. You will lose virtue if you break the TOS, or if you suggest yourself.
